Sensuality – Feminine - Comfort
These three keywords capture this coming season. You can create these feelings with transparency, cutouts, hand-made pieces (crochet, macrame), lace, leather, and satin. Another way to evoke these feelings is with color!
Here is my breakdown of 4 upcoming color trends for the Spring/Summer season with some trend tips to help you along the way.
And remember, having your color palette in hand will make your life much easier in deciphering and applying this season’s colors to ensure that you are investing in pieces that not only represent who you are, but that you will also be able to retain for more than one season. Don’t have a color palette? I can help you with that, so let’s schedule a time to talk and get your started towards your very own palette!
Trend # 1: Find your best red

Find your best red
As you can see, red is in full force this coming season and no one can wear all shades of red. Understanding which red suits you best will set you up for success as you wear this color to either convey confidence as a presenter or sexy to your partner.
What other trends do I see?
- Strong shoulders on jackets
This is a great trend if you have sloped shoulders.
- One-shoulder dresses
- 3-D flower appliqués
Have them as a focal point in the look – on a belt or as a brooch.
- Asymmetry
It is great to relate to asymmetries in your body and face.
Trend #2: Wear your skin color

Know your skin tones
I love this trend!
When you find that perfect hue (it’s not easy!), the effect is elegant, calm and approachable. This is the perfect hue to wear when you are feeling tired and need to endure the day.
What other trends do I see?
- Volume in pants
Easy style of pants to move from day to night by just changing accessories. In my opinion, there’s nothing more comfortable than loose fit pants.
- Slits
Having a skirt with a just above the knee slit will add a touch of sensuality to the look without feeling uncomfortable.
- Monochromatic color harmony
Use shades of the same hue and different textures to create interest.
- Add some sparkle!
A metallic sandal from your palette would go with everything in your closet.
- Slip Dress
For those not comfortable with just the slip dress, wear it with a jacket as if it were a silk top.
Trend #3: Find your best green!

Find your best green
Every color palette has a hue of green. Depending on the hue of green, as the color teal, it sends the message of confidence, sophistication and tastefulness.
What other trends do I see?
- Bubble skirts are back.
A great way to add some creativity to your look.
- Find your trench coat
A good trench coat in your color palette is a classic piece that won’t go out of style even if the trend has passed.
- Long skirts
- 50s inspired skirts
A retro full skirt is great paired with a cropped jacket
- Utility pants
- Ruffles
Keep ruffles in solid colors for more feminine conservative looks. Wear ruffles in floral or geometrical prints for a more playful look.
And finally, a trend that perhaps is already in your closet.
Trend #4: Denim head-to-toe

Find your best denim wash
Even when choosing a denim wash, it is important to complement your skin tone. Don’t be afraid to mix different washes as they can add interest to your look.
What other trends do I see?
- Elongate silhouettes with dresses being worn over pants.
- Cinch your waist!
- Low pants waist
If you have a long rise or your body is a short-waisted proportion, finding pants that sit below your natural waist will create more balance.
- Peplums
Great style for an hourglass body shape.
- Tailored pieces
A tailored piece sends a feeling of authority, precision, and refinement. Having one crispy, current, perfect fit jacket in the closet is always handy.
