Black Friday Shopping List

Black Friday is less than a month away and many brands already started Pre-Black Friday Sales.

But before you go ahead and purchase things you might not need or know how to style, I’m going to show you how I navigate the sales season to make sure anything I buy will blend seamlessly with my existing closet.

1. Figure Out What You Already Own & What You Need

During the pandemic, I made sure I would dress up every morning, even though I wasn’t going anywhere. Why?

Because the act of getting dressed each day helped me to feel good during those hard times.

And it encouraged me to create fun, new outfit ideas from my closet!

But as the season is changing and we enter cooler months, I’m going to need some additional transitional pieces that pair with my current outfits.

I know what I already have and I’ve made a list of what I could add to my closet for even more seasonal outfit ideas.

2. Use A Staple Piece To Build On

Pick something in your closet that is very versatile and can be worn all the time, like a blazer, Biker Jacket or dress.

Pull that piece out and have it hanging next to you while you browse the sales online.

Before you purchase anything, make sure it could be worn with that piece – this is a really easy first step towards building a capsule closet.

For example, this is a brown biker jacket in my closet that I wear all year round.

I’ve created an inspiration board to help me purchase discounted, quality brands on Black Friday that all go well with it.

3. Date Your Favorite Pieces!

Now is the time to check the prices of those must-have (but too expensive) pieces you’ve been secretly in love with all year!

I have been doing that for the last 2 years, and as Black Friday is approaching, I will check if a few pieces that I have been “dating” for awhile will get a special discount.

4. Intentionally Build A Summer & A Winter Closet

I have been very selective in adding new pieces to my closet.

My ultimate goal is to look on the left and have my summer wardrobe, and then look to the right for my winter wardrobe.

My ideal closet is the one that I will be able to move from sandals to boots keeping the same dress. Using layering as I get cold and shedding layers as I get hot.

Trans-seasonal Shopping Ideas – The Ultimate Versatile Wardrobe

Here are 5 pieces that would allow me to dress up and down and move from one season to another.

1) The Knit pencil midi skirt. The 90s clean, minimal look.

2) A pantsuit to create the monochromatic trend

3) A Leather Jacket

4) Comfortable shoes; Spring '23 runways showed a huge number of comfortable shoes. I love Oxfords. I can wear them with socks and tights during the cold days and sockless during spring and summer months. Invest in a great pair and enjoy all year long.

5) Full leg pants, as seen on the Fall and Spring '23 Runways.

All of these pieces are on trend yet versatile enough to move from one season to another. They are investment pieces because they are so versatile.
