What looking into the past can tell about your personal style?

a style journey

You will find out that Personal Style is a journey and not an end destination.

past and today

Have you ever been to the Style Time Tunnel? I did this week...

Do you know those days when you become nostalgic? I missed my daughters, so I got the old photo albums to see them as babies...

Doing that, I had a “Time Tunnel” experience. What a journey...

At one point I was no longer looking my daughters, but I was flipping the pages fast, looking for images of me.

The Time Tunnel took me back to the years where I really had no idea of who I was reflected on the way I dressed.

I found myself wearing pinks, baby blues, yellows, blacks and bright turquoises. Everything but the colors I love so much today.

In terms of clothing style, it was clear I felt uncomfortable with the body I had. Just look at me in the pink outfit with white sandals. I look like an old lady although I was only 24.

I didn’t grow up with style role model to follow. I tried a bit of everything and never felt right.

There is though one constant element that is still present today. I have been wearing short hair for almost 36 years apart from the year that my second daughter was born - 😲 I had a perm!

Short hair is part of who I am. Cecília = Short haircut.

All that images are part of my past and can't be erased.

So, you may want to know when my style journey started.

It was around 1991-92. I went to a women’s event, and the speaker was an image consultant. When she ended her talk, I visualized being and doing what she did.

So here I am...

Becoming an image consultant was an important pivotal moment in my life to arrive where I am today. This is the reason why I love so much to work with women and see their style sparkle coming back and regaining their style confidence.

My advice to those feeling like me at 24, even in your 50s and beyond, DON'T GIVE UP! Keep trying and exploring.

If the journey feels overwhelming, and I know it can, consider finding a travel buddy to walk along with you.
